Unless of course you are bang to rights, and it saves you going to court.

As a rule of thumb, the harder and more expensive it is to enter a trade, the more you can earn out of it.

If it cost f*** all and is easy to sign up, then the riff raff will do so.

I fount out why its so much, its a 3 year licence, on the good side, the head down there said my conviction shouldnt be an issue as it sounds like a one off occurance providing nothing else crops up in my dbs which it wont, my main issue is my diabetes, yay...

That should be ok.

You need to keep a diary of readings and get the ok from your doctor.

Unless you are a lawyer it's hard to know whether they have you "bang to rights" or not. I suspect they only offer cautions when they know they don't have enough to make charges stick.

No comment to everything and never accept caution is good advice

So when my make got stopped on his was to Wimbledon with a group of ladies going for a day out at the tennis and the police found a fixed bladed knife that was longer than permitted by law, (banged to rights) and he accepted the caution and had the knife confiscated and was allowed to continue with his job. You would have advised him to say nothing, get his car impounded so that his customers would be stuck in London not knowing where he was because he was under arrest at the police station looking at a night in the cells for his troubles.
I think that each situation merits consideration on it's own.

I don't know if there is a lawful excuse for having one and I suspect neither did he. I'll take a night in the cells over losing my badge.

What about the customers that he had onboard? The law is that a fixed blade over a certain length is illegal to carry. He had a knife that was longer. There is no excuse. now if he had followed your advice he would no only have spent a night in the cells, he would have had to go to court and who knows what the charge would have been but this happened at a time when there were some serious concerns regarding terrorists using stretched limousines for their plots.
