Yes, there is obviously some kind of shenanigans happening here, GBC sent me a message with a link to a website, when I opened the message the link was changed, but included the word Liars.

I noticed when I looked at the message again that it now has edited by the admin?

I think we are all adult enough to make our own decisions about these things, I would suggest that if the private message system on these forums are not secure, you let the members know.

Perhpas GBC would like to share the link with us. What exactly are you implying? TDO has nothing whatsoever to do with External links.

This nonsence about private messages has gone beyond a joke, if anyone believes their private messages are insecure then I suggest you conduct such activities via email, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, MSN or any other means available to you.

It has been suggested there is a script available on the Internet that allows the viewing of PHP Private messages. That may well be the case but I can assure everyone that such a script is not used on this website and anyone suggesting otherwise better have a good reason for doing so.

Jd

I can't believe that anyone thinks anything is secure on the net.

But if you are asking if I have attempted to find a way to read people's PMs, then the answer is no.

You can believe that, or not, but do you really think I give a hoot what you say to others in your PMs? :-s

This is a forum for all those in the taxi/PH trade to share info, and to discuss whatever they want.

The only people to be banned from this site are the liars. Oh and the people from various porn sites.

A fitting combination.

If you look back a few posts you will see that TDO has re-edited all censored words to show [edited by admin]. ](*,)

Steveo is correct, the software automatically changes certain words and phrases, particularly swearwords.

GBC's post would have been automatically edited when he made is several days ago, so I'm not sure why he didn't notice it then.

Anyway, I've changed it so that some of these words and phrases appear as [edited by admin] so it'll be a bit more obvious what's going on.

For the newer members, what happened was that in the past there were several rival forums going, and we had links for all of them, as we still do for the two rival forums in Edinburgh.

However, the truth was obviously starting to hurt too much, and since some people in the trade think that anyone who knows more about the law than them must be solicitors (unless, of course, they're on the 'right' side), some people from rival forums starting to spread malicious falsehoods to the effect that this site was run by solicitors who were using the site to get work from LAs

So we asked for evidence of this, but there came none. Then they found the name of someone in Manchester related to the trade who they didn't like, then found the name of a solicitor in Manchester with the same name, and then posted the name and address of that solicitor on the web and said that he was running this site. :^o

Problem was, the solicitor specialised in sports injuries, so there wasn't even a connection with the trade. Another problem was that we tried to contact him to inform him of what these people were up to, but unfortunately he was in hospital at the time undergoing major surgery. But, hey, these people wouldn't let the likes of that get in the way of a good lie.

So after giving them several weeks to substantiate their story, which of course we knew they couldn't, we banned them, and they set up their own forum. Since they continued to use that forum to defame us we set up the software to stop the use of this site to spread lies about TDO, and that's the reason for the current confusion.

So these people have gone now, despite several attempts to rejoin using false IDs and the like. But of course the truth hurts, so it's no surprise tha some of the newer members are attempting similar tactics, but that just proves how little in the way of substantive argument they have :D

The whole story can be read at:

http://www.taxi-driver.co.uk/witchhunt.htm

Perhaps GBC and others could read the post I made at about this time yesterday, repeated above.

I know some people like to ignore the truth, but that's their problem.

But I find it strange that you can moan about words being censored for everyone on TDO, including as Steveo says swear words, but have no problem with Nidge changing people posts to make them look like they are taking the opposite view.

I would moan if my postings were changed on the the cabbyforam as well.

Just remind me this is an internet forum for Taxi drivers? Sometimes I forget, and think its a rival multi million pound buisness trust.

As for the 'opposite view', you might have noticed Alex, not every one of Britains 200'000 Cab drivers agree's with your quest for complete deregulation of their industry. :-$

But thats the great thing about our wonderful democracy, freedom of speech and opinions, even up to the point where people may acuse each other of telling fibs in order to gain their objective.

I see, and i'm sure you do as well, an awful lot of more serious things going on in society whilst driving our Taxi's, than people calling each others web sites names.

Personally I think that if people are allowed to lie with impunity then there's not a lot of point in forums like these, don't you agree.

It may fit the agenda of some people, but it certainly doesn't fit mine.

If anyone prefers minsinformation and inaccuracy, then perhaps they should post elsewhere :D
