People who say 'see you later' when clearly they won't.

Drop off a fare at 2am - 'see you later', no you won't, not unless it's an invite for coffee.
Get food from a drive through - 'see you later', no you won't I'm going home now.
Do my weekly shop and the checkout girl says 'see you later', well in a weeks time when I come back again !

or staff in Tesco/Vodafone shop/Wilko's.....yes mate, what can i do for you

start by calling me sir for a start, im NOT your mate

I think a lot of them say "mate" in the forlorn hope that you may think they are of British origin even though their fresh foreign accent says otherwise.

Chelsea tractor at station insisted on pushing past me then parked across front of me if he'd waited 20 seconds I would have been out of his way!

Melton plated vehicles being driven by Rutland badged drivers.

Apparently one of my drivers was talking to the head of regulatory services today. This is the chap who oversees everything to do with licensing.
My driver reports that he was told that it is OK to drive a Melton taxi with a Rutland license. #-o #-o
What chance have we got?

Punters who leave the back door open when they get out to use a cashpoint.

Punters who don't turn the rear interior light off after they've turned it on.

Lollipop ladies who stop the traffic to let adults cross the road after they have dropped the kids off.

Are they going to follow them home and stop the traffic at every junction back. Or will those adults be able to cross the f***ing road without them. :(

You, of all people, should know the law on this.
Authority to stop traffic
The Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 (sections 26 and 28) defined the criteria for which
an SCP has the power to stop vehicles. Since that time legislation has been updated and
while very similar to the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, the Transport Act 2000 “allows
school crossing patrollers to cross any pedestrian who offer their selves to cross the road
during patroller’s duty times”. It also allows operating times to be determined by each
authority providing the service.
If drivers do not stop, the possible penalties include:
- a fine of up to £1000;
- three penalty points;
- disqualification.
Failing to stop for a uniformed School Crossing Patrol warden is an offence contrary to
section 28(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic
Offenders Act 1988.
Section 270 of the Transport Act 2000, which came into force on 30 January 2001,
amended the 1984 Regulations to allow SCPs to operate “at such times as the authority
thinks fit”. Therefore, SCPs may now work outside the hours of 8am to 5.30pm and can
stop traffic to help anyone (child or adult) to cross the road.

In Armitage (Staffs) there is a crossing warden/lollipop man/woman (annual costs £3600) who crosses on a pedestrian crossing (with lights)

Now I do wonder why?

Why install a pedestrian controlled crossing and then pay for the lollipop?

or vice-versa

Turning up early is ok but I'd be moaning if a cab I ordered turned up early and ran the meter

Ah, but is it a cab arriving two minutes after they phone for one or one that turns up at 5.50pm for a 6pm booking ? If the former then the meter shouldn't be started, however if the booking is made for 6pm then the meter should be started at 6pm, if they want to keep you waiting ten minutes for a cab they've booked for a specific time then they should pay.

I'm a firm believer that people shouldn't phone for a cab until they're ready for it, not fifteen minutes before they're ready. And if they pre-book for a specific time then they should be ready at that time.

Totally agree

If they don't book for a time you can't arrive early

We are not allowed to start the meter until the customers are seated in the car.

On a normal job that's true, however our LA have (unofficialy) told us that if a job is booked for say 6pm, then we are allowed to start the meter at 6pm (obviously if you're at the pick up point) as technically that's when the hiring starts, not when the passenger gets in the vehicle.

No-one bothers doing it though as it's not worth the arguments, just wait a few minutes and if they're not out - no job.
