Uber in Eastern Europe is only allowed to use licenced taxis as private hire is illegal per se.... licenced taxi drivers are fighting against illegal Über activity which is about 90% of all cars and drivers, no self employment, no licence, no proper insurance, no register (which is compulsory for licenced taxi drivers), no taxes, no NI, no......... below is a last night performance in Warsaw with illegal Über drivers (as you can see all cars are private cars not taxis)...

what you, bloody mean "typical ph drivers"? should i remind you about John Worboys i.e.? hope you meant prices only...
anyway, uber probably will be very limited in Poland if not prohibited after last actions agaist them and provocations from licenced taxi drivers.
it`s gonna be hard to reject them cos they opened centre of excellence and regional office for the eastern europe in Cracow in southern Poland emploing 140 people which is vital for local economy...

Maybe they should be made legal and then they can be controlled.

they tried once when taxi licences (hackney) were very limited. now there's no limit and knowledge test only is taking place in cities over 100k of population and not everywhere even (depends on council rules). so there's no necessity to have two-tier system but it's easier to do it illegaly to avoid all expenses legal taxi drivers have to pay (NI is equivallent of £200 a month i.e.). 99% of uber drivers have no commercial insurance.
