Oh yes. I used to have a regular customer, multi millionaire, he used to regularly keep me waiting for 2-3 hours. The longest wait was when I took 4 of them to Raymond Blanc's place near Oxford for lunch. We were supposed to be leaving at about 3.00 but they ended up staying for dinner as well and I got away at just before midnight and it was a 2 hour drive back.

years ago, back in the old country, regular customer came to me at the rank outside the hotel and took me round the corner to his girlfriend house, he gave me an equivalent of £2 of todays money and asked to wait coz he's going back home to his wife.... after 5 hrs. of waiting I gave up and drove off... he came to me two days after on the rank and during the ride he asked about that... I told him, "yes, mate I've been waiting for you as usual but bit longer and after 5 hrs I gave up, but it's my fault coz you paid me for 20 mins only" .... so, he said "I knew that cos when you left, girlfrend told me that taxi driver just left" (what a reveal).... and he gave me a tip of the decade... 8)

Yeap. Many a time.

But you must keep reminding them what they owe.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Some years ago I waited 5 hours for a flight at Manchester which landed but no one was on it. They'd missed their flight so they phoned the office and asked me to wait for them. When they eventually landed they expected me to not charge them for the wait. They asked how much it would be? I told them £12 per hour plus car parking charges, even though I was parked up out of the way in Wilmslow I still charged them car parking at something like £2 an hour.

Had a well known comedian who had been doing a charity show along with a load of other celebs. After the gig they all went to a local bar, told me to wait outside and take him home in a short while as he was only having a couple of drinks.

I asked how long he would be, 20-30 mins, keep the meter running. FOUR HOURS later and after being asked 'much longer?' every half hour or so and telling him it would be cheaper to ring when he's ready he eventually comes out and I take him home. £120 on the clock, £100 waiting time. Gives me £150 keep the change :D The fare from the gig to the bar was £6 and from the bar to home was £15

Normally to be as stupid as you would require 2 heads. There was £120 on the clock. £100 of this was waiting time. The fare was £20. Now the punter gave him £150 so that is £20 for the fare, £100 for the waiting and £30 for the tip. Have you got it now?

I had a long wait yesterday. About three hours.

Right by the Amex is Sussex Uni.

Now you can pay £10-12 to park at the Uni for the football, or you can go through the stewards in a taxi/PH telling them you have a booking for the back of the Uni. Of course you can ask your office to send you a dummy booking just to cover if need be. :-$

So I went for a punter there, and I couldn't find him. However as I was near the ground I thought it would be rude not to park up and go and watch.

Feel free to use it. I got it from one of my old gaffers. He had a few. One of his other favorites was, " your brain must be brand new, it has never been used."
