how long will it take for the black cab drivers to admit defeat & move to uber then ? there cabs ( i know they paid/pay a lot of cash for them) will be worthless, no taxi driver would buy them after all & just buy a saloon or whatever , so not only have uber cut there income, its also made there vehicles worthless ( unless they sell in another city that meet the colours ), i give it another 2 years & the capital will be uber only , as will be most big cities, don't think it will do anything where i work & if they do , by the time they "kick in " i will be retired anyway , its a shame though, still the black cabs have had it there own way for a while, its just competition really & uber seem to be doing better tbh
Everything has a honeymoon period.
Seen it with the Edinburgh City Private Hire, billboards ,papers everywhere advertising 20% off standard taxi rates, yes they were busy for a while until it Soon became common knowledge punters were often paying more.
As a hackney getting most business from street hails and rank work and the vehicle alone being highly recognisable as a TAXI, the uber app would just run as a background add on, I would only consider a job if I was dragged to the suburbs and it was a job back in, bearing in mind I'm loosing 25% of my fare.
Uber drivers are bound to the app therefore these drivers must be really desperate ,why not work in McDonald's??????
I heard Ubers a godsend in south Africa, and I believe that , we will have to see in the UK.
Would many parents be happy about their daughters being brought home in the early hours using the Uber app?
