Edinburgh news letter. Jacob also failed to address the issue of rising plate premiums, to nearly £45,000, and inflating taxi rentals, to almost £350 per week, which have been used as indicators of increasing demand in surveys [color=blue The Edinburgh News States that rentals have risen to 350 pounds a week . I know Liverpool fleet owners are a right bunch of bA......DS with 300 pounds not uncommon. But 350 thats taking the pi.... . Realcabforce wonders why is about to go pair shaped. plate holders have only got them selves to blame .STREETCAR

You seriously believe these guys are telling the truth, somehow I think they would be advised to buy a plate and cab long before paying that much, more misinformation I suspect.

Ali , how many people were involved in the production of the Fare view?

There's Jasber, we know that, there's Skull we know that, who else wrote up any articles for it?

Anyhow it's just a synopsis of all that been said over the last year, there's the wheelchair article, the Vehicle article, the Wencker article,on and on it goes, it's all regurgitated news, other than the cabtivate system, whats new?

I can't quite put my finger on it though . . . :-k

not at all gbc
just the facts nothing more

It was my attempt at a bit of sarcasm Mr T

I have to agree with Mr Maitlands comments on how attacking individual members of the local authority won't progress your cause.

No one is suggesting that what you have printed is anything but the truth, but I'm trying to view it as a member of the public who lives in say, Corstorphine.

They may see it as a dozen moaning Cabbies, and dismiss your article as such.

And we know the press are'nt exactly pro-taxi, they might change it around to the above.

Good luck.

GBC.

Wait until the sequel comes out!! It'll correct all the errors, inaccuracies and downright lies contained in this toilet roll of hatred.

Jim Taylor has been told and told that he'll never get anywhere with his constant attacks on councillors - so what does he do? disregards everything and throws in his lot with skull: another imbecile who cannot comprehend that negotiations are not all about confrontation all the time.

This lot represent the MINORITY view in Edinburgh.
I know of nobody who pays the ridiculous rental figures quoted. Put simply to pay that would make the job uneconomic.

As for plate values, it is common knowledge here that I.T.S. try to lead the market in raising the plate values. What is maybe less well known is that plates are currently changing hands for a lot less than the figures bandied about by this vociferous minority.

What has some of that got to do with your average cabby who just goes out and does his job to the best of his or hers ability.

It seems to be more about vengeance and spite against the council  it's all to reactionary for me, something bad happened to me so everyone must suffer the consequences, Hell hath no fury like a taxi driver scorned kind of thing.

There may be problems in the taxi trade but telling us who should and should not be resigning their positions from the Council aint going to help anyone.

Everyone will have the chance to vote them out, if that is their wish, in 18 months time, until then I would learn to except it.

Shame really a document with some reasonable stuff ruined by Political bias.

Absolutely spot on Mr Maitland, just more of the same from this vindictive and spiteful site.

I don't really think the precise rental figures and plate values matter a great deal, since as with any other transaction they will rarely be exactly the same.

But what matters is that the premiums and rentals are grossly inflated, which is wrong in principle, in my opinion.
