If he thinks Councillors get a pension from the Council he probably is correct,they normally join the Local Authority pension scheme like any other employee.

Councillors get too much of an allowance in my view.

Down here they all seem to get a basic £11,000 and that's not value for money.

Get rid of all but travel and food allowance and if they don't want to be a councillor, then someone else will.

100s of 1000s of people volunteer every day of the week, no reason why some of them can't be councillors.

In fact things would be better if they were.

I've seen some utterly thick councillors in my years, a few very good, but many simply not up to it.
