Taxi Driver Online

Hi lads.

Been a while. Not left the trade yet. 15 months and keeping away from fri n sat nights. Working 4 days a week when i can.

The question.

Moved to a bigger firm. Needed to test the water. Been there a few days now but seems strange learning the area to hang out n stuff again. Can always return to the other firm if i dont get the hang of it.

So. Old firm used autocab. This one is on icabby.

Autocab. If i done say (example) 40 hours in my car. Looking through my books. I took the same home each week depending on drivers leaving or being new. Couple of quid either way.

Also not taking into account say a nice £50 job in the last 2 hours of my final day of the week.

Well. Icabby. They told me on the first day that it is luck of the draw.???

Is that right? Can i honestly go to work and be in the wrong place at the wrong time all week and earn about 50 quid in 40 hours?

If so. That is nuts. Shouldnt it at least level the playing field so everyone more or less earns the same for the hours worked?

Icabbi is one of the most feature rich programmes if it is luck of the draw it is the new firm's set up not the software it should be possible to share better jobs out just the same

I just type what i think.
I forget how difficult it can be for cabbies.

Old firm shared work. (used autocab)
New firm says it is luck of the draw. (uses icabby)

option 3....base ops choose base cars
option 4....base ops choose fav cars

Guess i will just have to risk a few weeks and see if i am unlucky enough to make nowt.

iCabbie is a cloud based version and IMO isn't as good as a machine sat in the office working off plots. The day our firm uses iCabbie I'm off.

So if you have been waiting first turn on a point for, say an hour, is it right that some bloke that's had a sh** day get the job in front of you?

The fairest way is the computer gives the jobs out, as soon as people get involved it's never ever fair.

Yeah. I understand what you mean sussex.

But if 2 jobs are coming out in the zone i am in at 7pm and 2 drivers are in that zone.

1 driver has made 60 quid
Another driver has made 10


And one of them 2 jobs is a 3 quid job. The other a 40 quid job.

Surely the system gives the 40 quid job to the driver having a bad day.

Autocab done this. If you had a blinder on Monday. Then Tuesday was usually betty to the dentist all day kind of work.

Welcome to the taxi/PH trade.

However I agree that long distance work that has been prebooked should be allocated via a list of cars, rather than the luck of the draw on a point.

Bit miffed as to why on earth one company shares the work evenly and another leaves it for drivers to fight for scraps.

That isn't true our system is a human one and so I believe is Grandads and both of us manage to distribute the jobs fairly because if your philosophy is correct and your drivers stick to it it works. technology often fails to do that which is why i won't use it other than to keep a record of account work. All of our drivers get a fair share of little, medium, large and big jobs given out manually and this occurs at many companies up and down the country but not all

I suppose the smaller 60 car firm i was at found it logical to even out work.

Seems this big place will be stressfull all the time. But if hundreds of others manage. I must be able to.

£100 today in 6 hours just pottering around town with the worst base op on duty


but only 4 cars on then 1 went home......
