I disagree. Why should I allow a jumped up licensing officer break every rule in the book and get away with it. My own council also ride roughshod over the laws of the land which results in every driver in Bolton being open to attack by both licensing officers and sanctimonious, hypocritical councillors.

Why ask people what they think you should do next if you have already decided by the looks of it. Or did you just expect everyone to agree with you.

No. I thought someone (obviously not you) might have some knowledge that I wasn't aware of. As I have said before. If you don't know then don't answer.

Well I think we are all, in a roundabout way, saying that.

If the licensing officer doesn't want to speak to someone he is well within his rights.

The simple answer is don't speak to him, let it die a death.

Personally I would have talked to him at the time. I see no point in antagonising these people. I would have listened to what he had to say but i would politely refuse to allow him to inspect my vehicle and explain why.

That is exactly what I did do. He just kept spouting the same lies. And why should I be bothered by someone who knows that they are (pardon the pun) winging it?

Well if he's winging it your OK but my bet is he's an assole maybe ex copper who will now give you plenty of AGG, so you acting the clever dick will cause you plenty of grief   of course had you been a member of a Union ONE phone call would have clarified the situation. no doubt thats too complicated for YOU

My betting this assole is gonna PROPERLY sort you out one way or the other ......................................sleep well

Again someone requesting advice from members of this forum,it would be of great assistance in all cases but especially in this one if the full story was told.

The two letters from the licensing officer published on here would be of help to those inclined to offer serious advice which can only be given if you know the facts which in this case we do not.

With regard to licensing officers challenging anyone when you are out of your borough, they have a right to do so on the assumption you are doing something wrong.

in total fairness to LO's - if a completely unlicensed vehicle was doing something iffy in any area, we'd expect them to act - so why not with licensed vehicles?

That being said, maybe the LO should have had a police constable present?

In the original post it was a PCSO that did the initial stop.

I'm bright enough to know that unions are a waste of space. And a vote for Corbyn an even bigger waste of space. You might not have the guts to question someone on your own. But I do.

He did have a police sergeant with him. A Manchester licensing officer has no jurisdiction over me. If the powers that be want us to adhere to the rules, they must do likewise. I have spoken to a member of the licensing officers association and have been told that the officer at Manchester airport got everything wrong. He is only a council official and not a copper. His assumptions are worthless and academic.

And I have the right to tell them to go away. No offence committed. Once this is sorted out I will put all the correspondence on here.
