The consultation that the dundee city council are going on about 4/5 years ago there was no repersentation
for wheelchair operators. There was also a local survey at this time with no questions about w/chairs. also no
questions about young mums and buggys. Less than 60 survey sheets where returned. If you read the dundee
city council survey 2016 you will see the problems that people are having with wheelchair cars at peek times.
Best of all you now get wheelchair saloon type taxis so whats the problem with a uniformed fleet for visitors
and disability coming to DUNDEE =D> =D> =D>

How many members does the GMB have in Dundee and how many of them drive saloons and how many drive WAVs?

The GMB in ~Dundee have enough members to debate and decide THEIR policys which of course will be presented to the Council and their political allies  with the backing of a 600.000 strong membership ...no doubt they will be listend to :D :D :D Given their ignored there is no doubt plenty of experience to call on from within the 600,000 members

No doubt you would grandad prefer they wernt there ...................................TOUGH

i HEAR THEIR COMING TO NUNEATON SOON =D> =D>

a mixed fleet taxi policy does not work.

It works just fine in many other towns and cities. Why are you campaigning for a 100% WAV fleet and not a policy of choice for all owners/drivers?

100% Wav Taxi policy is fair for all and would comply with the councils public sector equality duty If it was a policy of choice every taxi operator in dundee would change to saloon cars as these are cheaper to buy and run + the duty under section 165 EqAct would not apply this would not comply with the councils duty under section 149 as there would be no Wav Taxis and would cause discrimination for people in wheelchairs a local authority has the right to adjust its policy but it must be fair and lawful in doing so having a mixed fleet in a city where there is high proportion of street work at times causes discrimination as there is not always wav taxis available a person in a wheelchair should not have wait any longer on a taxi than an able bodied person so going back to taxis why should 40% be allowed cheap saloons that cannot service people in wheelchairs and 60% can only put on service expensive wavs +have the extra duty placed on them section 165 EqAct the gmb union are right to go to court on this matter dundee wav taxi operators have been screwed for far to long dundee city councils taxi policy making is unlawful and flawed.

If they are going to look after drivers against Councils and bad operators I do not have a problem. Mind you Nuneaton is quite a way from where I am and I can't see many taxi drivers here joining a union although many of them may benefit from being in one. I have nothing to fear from any union.
