local petrol station last saturday i took the 8 seater out to do 1 job 24 mile round trip and then topped the fuel up expecting about £8 but it ran to £17  checked with the last driver in it and he confirmed he had fueled up to the second click.

Today as another driver had my usual car to go to Heathrow I used that vehicle again and did about £110 and the fuel gauge showed about a quarter of a tank used so was expecting to be about 20 to 25 litres (£25 to £30) the pump finally cut out showing 58 litres £69.75

Left petrol station and realised it was the same pump so thought I would get in touch with trading standards well you can't they only provide contact details for citizens advice who will take your complaint and "share" the info with trading standards but you are not allowed to know if they acted on it or not

so that's 63% of my days takings apparently gone in fuel and nothing I can do other than write and complain to the petrol station

I am absolutely certain the pump was recording DOUBLE what I was actually getting

Not happy

You could always go back with one of those 5 litre containers and check it.

the thing is is it the pump or the way the pump interacts with my fuel filler pipe on the vehicle ?

well I brought it to the attention of the manager of the station and today popped in to buy something and was sternly told there is no way their pumps can be wrong as no one else has complained it must be my vehicle and to go elsewhere for fuel in the future

In other words i have been banned for complaining  I must spend at least £2K a year with them  well they are going to find me complaining a lot more now and that will hurt their reputation

I assume that you have checked the vehicle for any fuel leaks? Could someone by syphoning fuel out?

I complained about a pump a few year ago,it was immediately switched off and was tested the next day, found to be faulty, received a call from the manager to pop in to pick up a fuel coupon.

When I was a Catering Logistician in The Royal Navy, alongside in Portsmouth I ordered 28LB of fresh Strawberries amongst many other stores.

Next day the NAAFI lorry pitched up and I checked the stores against delivery notes.

I rejected the 30 Catering size tins of Gooseberries - I hadn't ordered them.

I rejected the fresh tomatoes - not in useable condition.

You get the idea.

I then rang the NAAFI to go through things, asked where the missing strawberries were. "They have a substitute" said the young lady. "Really" said I, "didn't see a substitute". The reply was "30 tins of Gooseberries". "You have to be joking" I said. "No, the Strawberries were substituted with tinned Gooseberries - they're both Berries" said she!   [/quote]

called a "cook " mate when i was a stoker   Catering Logistician??, ffs herd it all now   ( CPO just in case you ask  )

They were Cooks when you were a "Nosser", I was a source branch Catering Accountant (CA), the branch came into being with the demise of the "Stores Accountant Victualler" (SAV) which you probably remember. They came up with CA when (nearly) all the SAV's were residing at Winchester Nick. (The great Potato Scandal - a bit like your coffee)
Now the Cooks are "Chefs". The Stewards are still Stewards. The Chefs and Stewards become Caterers on becoming Petty Officers.
Nowadays nobody is S&S (Supply and Secretariat). The white mafia are now "Logisticians".
So to clarify, I was always a CA. Now I would be a Logistician.

no leaks and on the second occasion the fuel gauge read full at start of shift and about 3 quarters tank when i fueled up tank is 80L but "took" 58 L with me having done about 100 miles around town

which is about 8MPG don't think so not when it is not doing it all the time

On Sunday went to Gatwick and back fueled at Morrisons came to £39 it is either some sort of interaction between fuel filler pipe and pump causing it to misread fuel delivered (air lock ?) or there is a fault and I am the only one who has noticed

no because I was the last one to fuel up and nobody drove the vehicle in between besides which there has never been any issues before and I'm pretty sure I know all the drivers insured on the vehicle to know they don't

Customer rings number a car for house number 50.

Muggings goes to street and it only goes up to 20.

Ten minutes later they ring again saying they are at number 3.

Muggings goes and waits outside number 3.

Punters come out of number 9.

What f***ing chance to we have? ](*,)
