Right answer. The Council could, however, look at the pre-licence application requirements and the standards they set within those requirements. e.g. local knowledge test, driving assessment, English assessment etc.

the problem then is that local people are put off and only those new to the area for which ph is probably the only route to employment will find a way round

personally i think there should be some sort of requirement on the businesses to ensure earnings meet a minimum necessary for drivers to live on or make the difference up

really have uber changed anything has the driver that won the case received paid holiday ?

I think we need to wait and see what happens with the appeal and if the Inland revenue decide to clobber uber or anyone else for Tax and national insurance

How many other private hire drivers have lodged a claim with the operator they work for,if they do not lodge a claim they will not get any backdated payments,their claim would be only valid from the appeal date.

The driver on the NMW who sees takings of £40/hour on a 8 hour night shift might curse this ruling...

and them who have to pay tax because of it

ive seen £30/hr as an unfed owner driver in a 4 seater, my lad (in a car) did £22/hr last night mid-month

base 8 seaters can hit double on good shifts

I think putting that on an open forum is the stupidest thing I've seen on the internet in years.

why?

me and the lad are all legal with nothing to hide...a rate per hour with no mention of hours worked makes calculating the total taken difficult...ive done better....for 3 hours...lol

I have taken (when a courier) £150/hr...... by moving a large photocopier 5 miles....

Now if i could AVERAGE that one day id be quite happy
