Sussex, are you saying that rent/ settle is still charged when the driver is on holiday?

Yep.
Same here.
It was suggested that each driver pay an extra £20 per month and then they could have 14 days a year of their choosing rent free but it was voted against.

I've just had nearly two weeks off sick and had to stump up £300 rent.

I can't understand why drivers, particularly owner drivers are accepting this crap.
I think I should come round your way and set up a PH circuit. There would be non of that crap and drivers would keep a hell of a lot more of the money that they earn.

My drivers pay full rent for any part of the week, wether they do one shift or ten shifts it's the same. But a full week off isn't charged. Many of them take 6 to 8 weeks off at a time. Trying to charge them would be as good as sending them to our competitors I reckon.

Is this what some of you on here refer to as a "spiv"?

Please do, you'd have no shortage of drivers and all the other firms would have to change or close down.
