Just done 2 12 hour shifts driving rail replacement buses in London, most of it hanging around as standby driver, plus the hour and a quarter drive there and back, that's my lot for the week! It pays as much as doing private hire on the Romney Marsh did in a week.

I might be on call 12 hours a day but only drive between 3 and 5 hours...so is it the 12 hour shift or the driving time that your asking about.

They've had the willies put up them Tez with a guy round here about to loose his ops licence because a driver killed a cyclist after he'd worked a 24 hour shift and only had 9 hours sleep in three days. They log them off the system but they'll work the ranks or go flying round town.
