IT MAINLY WILL EXCLUDE NATURAL BORN BRITS !!!!!!!!!

I am born in and have lived in the UK all my life but under these rules I will not qualify because I don't have a passport and I don't claim benefits

So you don't have a birth certificate issued in the UK?

yes but it has my name on it and the registrars name but not my parents names so is useless and i have spent 4 hours today trying to obtain proof of my national insurance without success

If you are a non passport holder you are screwed !!

How do you pay Tax...or don't you

Check with your GP, they should know, or ring up the National Insurance people and ask them. They should post it to you.

If you already know your NI number and you have a government gateway account, (you need one to do your self assessment online) you can print your national insurance number online. here is the link.

Oh of course you can't use it because you don't have a passport or P60. Unlucky.

NOPE you have to apply through the government gateway website which after 4 frustrating hours would not allow me to access anything other than self assessment filing

YOU HAVE TO START OVER AGAIN and apply for a personal tax account which already exists but the website won't allow you near unless it is a brand new set up starting by applying and waiting for access codes etc to be posted so you can log in under a completely different user account to self assessment

the point above all else is it will take me a minimum of a month and possibly up to 3 months because the system has been inundated with applications. The only way i can renew my badge now is to apply for a passport so as well as the separate medicals and eye tests this renewal will cost me over £500 for my badge

Could this apply to eastern europeans????

It wont apply to people from the EU because they have a right to work here. This is about people without the right to work here.

Why does it not apply to people from the EU, but does apply to people born and resident in our Islands.

That is what I have been trying to access and failed the Gov.uk website will ONLY allow me access to self assessment filing and nothing else it says it can't verify who i am even though i answered all the security questions correctly

I've mentioned this before, but I renewed my passport this year.

I used the speedy Post Office service and sent it off on the Monday, I got it back through my door on the Thursday.

Even I was speechless. 8-[

Why does it not apply to people from the EU, but does apply to people born and resident in our Islands.

Because they have the right to work here and to get here in the first place an EU citizen will have the required documents.

I was born here and have worked all my life since leaving school, paid my N.I. contributions and income tax as required.

Why should I now have to prove who I am and have the right to work in my birth country?

Maybe because there are so many people who don't have documentation.
Personally I don't think it is a big ask. There are plenty of other more important issues to fight.
