Thickos in office quoting a mileage rate to central London, on train strike day.

Nothing I love more than sitting in traffic earning f*** all, especially when I have a punter.

Needless to say that job got the big X

I've had similar.
Day driver turns up at 6pm handover, power steerings not working (you can still drive but the wheels hard to turn). Happened at 10am, did he go to the garage, phone me, try and fix it himself ? Nope just carries on working all day and expects me to sort it at night ! Fortunately was just the belt had snapped and I had a spare so fixed in 20 minutes.

Sames happened when he's had a bump or scrape, rather than go straight to a few garages for quotes just keeps working and expects me to sort it, he has the car all day how am I supposed to ? And the odd occasion he turns up and says 'engines making a funny noise\suspension doesnt feel right\warning lights come on' yet won't do a thing about it. Ignores the problem and keeps driving.

Actually trotsky he's a good hard working grafter of a driver but has a very expensive wife and kids so everything tends to be spent pleasing her and puts off spending on his car I'm just annoyed he didn't tell me sooner

Does not take the brain of Britain to change pads or shoes, normally instructions are in the box the pads come in.

Why not change them for him if you want him to work.

After the recent case in Bath where 4 people died because of brake failure on a lorry, caused by criminal negligence/cost cutting !! He needs the mother and father of b*ll*ckings - no excuses.

because i am also handling all the calls as well as driving daytime and haven't time and my health is very poor at the moment so am not prepared to spend an hour in the damp and cold doing it just my luck to finish up with pneumonia if I did no he needs to learn some basic car maintenance himself or learn to plan his finances a bit better

he actually wanted to risk it and come in to work tomorrow but I made it quite clear what the result would be if he had an accident as a result. The big problem is he is thinking of jacking it in anyway because the financial pressure his wife is putting him under he's currently started doing work for Hermes on the side and is seriously considering going full time courier work but for DPD so getting too heavy with him would push him that way. I think he will almost certainly leave in the new year and then return 4 to 5 months later when the courier work turns out to be less well paid than promised
