Isn't train driving one of those jobs that might not be here in a few years due to driverless trains?

How many years before there are no taxi drivers? All replaced by driverless cars.

Once the driverless car comes, many people won't need a taxi.

Technically couldn't you still be drunk in charge of a motor vehicle, even if you weren't the one driving it ?

I went back to bus driving, weekends only doing rail replacement work, and maybe a few nights a month when the line's closed. Good money for little hours and little tax to pay even on the books. :)

I earn more at that than I did running my own p/h in a rural area.

the tech is proving to be very difficult to perfect we have not reached the point at which a computer can think reason and react as well as a human brain. The accident rate with these vehicles in driverless mode is testament to that !
