Hi everyone,

I'm writing for my partner, who's a taxi driver in Lincoln. I'm having driving lessons at the minute (Failed my test yesterday!) and my instructor told me that taxi drivers now have to have a driving test when they rener their licences. I can see on the DSA's website that they now offer driving tests for taxi's, but he and no one he knows, have heard anything of this. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Is it only for new applications, or are all drivers now being asked to sit a test when they renew their badges?

Thanks for you help,

Truffles

I think Mr Jimbo will be able to enlighten you on that.

But many areas are making new entrants and existing bad boys do the DSA taxi test. One or two of them are making all their licensed drivers do it.

Hello Truffles.

There are no plans to introduce DSA tests in Lincoln.

Thank you very much for your help. He can sleep easier now! After trying to take me for the occasional driving lesson, we realised he'd never pass a conventional driving test!!

Thanks again

Truffles

As Sussex alludes, it's down to each individual council to decide these matters.

But the DfT did say something about it in their draft Best Practice Guidance, but they were a bit non-committal.

And that proves, what?

75% of drivers in your area are not fit to drive, or that the dsa test is jobs for the boys?

The DSA Taxi Test is a normal driving test, with a few added extras designed for the taxi/PH trade.

Coming to a council near you soon. Image

Not this one. There is a very strict, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy in force.

Hmm..Lincoln must be the only LA in the country with perfect taxi and PH drivers.

So what about the fatality then Jimbo? :?

Weren't you the person who said that you never break the speed limit Jimbo?

So you should be aware that most other drivers do. QED?

So what are the failing on Mr Gull?

And presumably they get several cracks at the whip, or is it an opportune time for a SUD test in Brighton

Wait a minute though, even if half the drivers disappeared off the face of the earth, it shouldn't affect SUD, since it doesn't change vehicle numbers, innit? #-o
