Police in Blackpool say there has been a significant fall in reports of anti-social behaviour in areas of South Shore where taxis were being targeted by stone-throwing yobs.

The Gazette reported in December how taxi drivers were considering withdrawing service to parts of the town following the incidents in Seasiders Way and Waterloo Road. We conducted an operation around South Shore during the Christmas period which seemed to have addressed the issue Police carried out a high-profile operation in December and January and now say the number of calls has dramatically reduced.

A spokesman for Blackpool Police said: “We conducted an operation around South Shore during the Christmas period which seemed to have addressed the issue. “Officers conducted an analysis of calls over a 30-day period and we only received three phone calls around the issue across the whole of South Shore. “We are in the process of analysing information to see if there is an issue across other areas.”
