working too many hours ?

A taxi driver was rushed to hospital in the early hours of this morning after his vehicle collided with two lampposts in Sheffield.

It is believed the man, aged in his 30, lost control of the vehicle on Chesterfield Road South in Lowedges at 1.30am and hit two posts. The driver had become trapped inside and firefighters from Sheffield Central and Lowedges stations had to use specialist equipment to cut him free.

He was taken in an ambulance to Sheffield 's Northern General Hospital with suspected neck and back injuries. There were no passengers in the taxi and no other vehicles were involved.

I was used to working long hours so I guess it depends on the person! What would be classified as long hours by the guys and gal on here?

It's difficult to Quantify, it would depend on what you class as Work, is it just Driving time, driving and waiting time, Driving, Waiting and other things related to being self employed such as book keeping and vehicle maintenance?

I start my day at 6.50AM and might not finish until 2.00am the following morning, but of those hours I may drive less than 4 hours or maybe over 10 hours, but not all at once, the rest of the time I might be catching up on my accounts or washing cars etc..or I could even by laying along the Sofa watching Jeremy Kyle in the hope that it makes my lot in life seem wonderful by comparison.

So..just what is Work? please define : Work

I think this question has been asked before.

To my way of thinking "work" is something that stops you doing whatever you do in your leisure time. If you are sat in an office Or your home waiting for a call, you are in essence working.

You might not be driving all the time, but still that's excessive IMO.
