Man robbed and assaulted by fellow passenger in unlicensed taxi in Biggleswade

A MAN was robbed and beaten by another men an unlicensed taxi - sparking a police appeal for witnesses.

The man left the White Hart pub in Biggleswade at approximately 12.30am on Sunday, June 18 and approached a vehicle, which he believed to be a taxi.

The car took him to The Green, in Beeston, before another passenger in the car proceeded to steal his wallet and assault him.

Investigations have found that this car was not a licensed taxi.

Detective Constable Amanda Durrant, investigating, said: "Fortunately the man was not injured in this incident but it was still a nasty attack which has understandably left him feeling shaken.

"I'm appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, which we believe happened just before 1am, as well as anyone who saw a light coloured vehicle in the vicinity of the White Hart pub, to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 31 of 18 June, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Correct, not a licensed TAXI, could still be a licensed PH.

F*** me the rows I have had on TDO and long gone taxi/PH trade forums over the 'not a taxi' issue in respect of PH. :D :D :D :D

And so are all private hire operators and their drivers who advertise and call themselves TAXI service or taxi driver, must include a fair view on this forum in this assertion.

Question...I would like to know out of interest what makes you think that hackneys have the sole right to use the word TAXI....bearing in mind advertising law.....British law .. and .. EU law.. :D

The lawful definition is in several Acts of Parliament.
All adverts or claims are supposed to be honest ,truthful, accurate and not misleading when claiming private hire is a TAXI are not.
