I believe a number of LO allow a booking Fee to cover the dead miles running for a job, Our Lot have proposed that if you run over Ten miles you can request £5 which is a ****** joke

Ours wont allow it because the public can't be bothered to complain that they can't get a taxi. they just drink and drive.

we are allowed to add up to £12 to a job to cover that BUT in practice punters don't understand so any jobs more than 3 miles out which in our case are almost all out of district need to be quoted. i always say based on round trip mileage they sort of understand that but tell them including booking fee well expect a tirade of abuse

I used to hate it when the operator said "they've been told they're paying from town" most sober punters didn't understand it let alone a pi$$ed one! I would just rather them put a fixed price on it.
