I hope people don't mind me posting without first searching through the forums for what I'm looking for...

Does anybody know of any areas where a 'no idling' policy has been introduced?

Have taxi / PH drivers been given an exemption in any areas?

It's in the pipeline here on the Wirral...and, funnily enough, it's on probably the coldest day of the year so far that it's come to light.

It's in one of the Traffic Acts, all vehicles not just Taxi and PH.
It is therefore enforceable.
Aircon or Heater is not a defence.

But the LO would have to leave his centrally heated (or in summer, air conditioned) double glazed office to find us, and hes been out to the rank once this year already

You asked about idling - not Offices.

If the LO never comes out, what's the problem?

Tis better to be a fined driver than a driver found dead through Hypothermia....I'f it's minus 15C and your sitting with frosted bollocks, well, I know what I'd be doing.

And it ain't gonna be freezing to death.
