A contrite Uber told Westminster Magistrates' Court today that it "fully accepts" last year's decision by Transport for London (TfL) to revoke its taxi operating licence as "justified".

So Uber are telling the court that they are agreeing with TfL that in September 2017 they were not fit and proper.

Which begs the question as to what all those other councils (that licensed Uber prior to 9/17) do now, as even Uber say they weren't fit and proper at that time?

Personally I will be amazed if she allows the appeal.

depends if the magistrate has received instruction from HMG or not

The judical system is seperate from any government interference. If that were not the case then no one would ever be found not guilty or any appeals won.

But are they being quite canny as it's ULL (Uber London Limited), I'm assuming that Uber will have many regional limited companies so if one gets hit the rest will have nowt to do with it.

Think there's just two Uber London Limited, and Uber Britannia Limited, which deals with everywhere outside London.

Not sure precisely how it works in law, but if they're both owned by the same parent company, and both use similar practices and policies, then would look very odd if banned in London and not elsewhere.

But at the end of the day that's surely what local licensing is all about - someone can be denied a licence in one area but can get one in another, and providing the relevant processes have been adhered to then in the final analysis there's nothing that can be done about it.

Evening Standard's journo thinks temporary licence the most likely outcome:

Evening Standard wrote:
There are three possible outcomes this afternoon. The court could uphold TfL's original decision to revoke Uber's licence, it could grant Uber a full, five-year licence or, what appears the most likely scenario, it could offer Uber a temporary licence during which time it must prove it has made the necessary changes to address TfL concerns.

Judgement due 5pm, apparently.

But seems hearing still in progress, so gives impression it's a done deal and court is just going through the motions.

Uber given a 15 month license, with a number of extra conditions.

Be interesting to see if any of them deal with the cross border issue.

Uber to pay TfL's £425,000 legal costs.

Does the 15 month license run from the date of revocation?

I would imagine it runs from today.

As it was a renewal appeal should it not run from the date of renewal refusal or it means they have operated at a discount of fees compared to what other operators have had to pay?
