Just one thing about this idea Nidge. The camaras will clock your car entering the pay zone but they don't register you leaving so presumably at some point they will hit you with a very large bill because the system will still think you are in there.
Never had any come back since I've been doing it. Remember, if that barrier drops and damages your car there's a claim.
If you have not paid the exit charge I think you would be held negligent if barrier comes down on your vehicle.
barrier won't because it has a sensor and you immediately reach a roundabout where you often have to pause so barrier can't go down till it senses vehicle clear BUT
car registrations a picked up as you enter and as Pete said as you leave a ground level ANPR camera
So I suspect Nidge is playing devils advocate here as he would have surely had a penalty notice by now if not
