Lincolnshire Police have issued a picture of the woman they are trying to trace after the incident at around 1.20am on Wednesday, August 15.
A statement issued by police said: "We would like to speak to this woman who may be able to help our investigation after a man was spat at in Lincoln.
"At around 1.20am on Wednesday, August 15, a taxi driver was spat at in the city centre."
The woman in the picture issued by police appears to have brown or black hair.
She is wearing a black, sleeveless top.
