Because the transgression is not stated, nobody learns anything.

I'm not convince the record is for the likes of us to learn anything, it's a record of what happened according to the minute taker.

I want to know if you think that a Taxi Committee "hearing" should be so clandestine as to preclude an educative outcome?

If the committee agree that this will address the shortcomings of the driver, and the driver agrees to it, I feel it's the correct decision.

Then I pose you this:

If the same offence had been sent by the Licensing Office via and with the LA Legal Department to the Magistrates Court, should that then be In Camera too?

The adult court is 99.99999% open to the public.

Very very little, in very very extreme cases, are behind locked doors.

I can safely say licensing matters would always be open to the public.

You didn't answer with your opinion, you said what happens.

In your opinion should such cases be "In Camera" in the the Courts?

If you do agree with the status quo in the Courts, why shouldn't Taxi Committee meetings be open to the public?

I agree with the open court system. It has served society well for hundreds of years, IMO.

In respect of closed personal hearing for licensee's, I also agree with the law that allows council to keep these hearing semi secret if they so choose.

To me it's not a contradiction.

Should large, or small, businesses publish their disciplinary hearing? Should school teachers have their disciplinary or personal matters published?

Of course not.

But your disciplinary examples are not quasi-judicial.

I think they should be open. I also think that occasionally the Committee should be able to have "In Camera" for all or part of the proceedings.
