This thread started with a firm saying they had to bin loads of jobs because they can't recruit enough drivers?

Are some really saying that they can't get drivers because they earn too much and they get treated really really well?

That is what I am saying is happening to us.
Drivers who use our cars and are self employed only pay 50 pence per mile that they drive. They have no other costs. They are free to take work from our system or service their own customers if they wish. The only restriction we make is that if they have said that they want a school run then they must be available for that job. We have a couple of full time drivers who regulaly take home over £800 per week so no benefits for them. We have others who clear over £500 per week on a regular basis. One thing we wont do is approach other drivers and ask them if they want to work with us. They all know how we work and how much they can earn but they choose to work with others who treat them like sj1t and take between 40 and 60% off of them depending on who pays the fuel.

Clearly a lot of drivers don't like change.

So if they are content to be subsidised by the taxpayer, then more fool the taxpayer for subsidising them.

It does get very frustrating. However it could be argued that if that is their attitude then maybe we don't want them anyway.

This stank of bullshit first time round, now I can smell it from Fife

What a load of complete and utter bollocks ](*,)

Trade's full of people like this, promising the world to new drivers but delivering nothing, and somehow a wet-behind-the-ears 22-year-old with 649 missed calls in one night just didn't ring true.

Redcar taxi firm folds within weeks - after struggling to find enough drivers

Adam Graham, 22, set up AMG Taxis to take on the big firms but he had to turn away thousands in fares

A new taxi firm for Redcar has folded in just a few weeks - after struggling to find enough drivers to keep up with high demand.

Adam Graham set up AMG Taxis to take on the big established firms, covering 'the Mighty Redcar' and East Cleveland.

But within days, he posted a picture of his phone display showing 649 missed fares following a night shift.

The 22-year-old said he was "desperate" for more drivers to "come on board" and he was having to turn away thousands of pounds during the first week.

Now he says drivers are reluctant to start working for a firm that isn't as well established and AMG can't carry on with so few people.

A message posted by the company on social media apologising to customers.

It said: "Sorry to say this but I have had to close AMG as we cannot carry on the way we are, losing drivers rather than gaining them.

"Thank you to everyone that has showed support and loyalty and that's to the customers, drivers and staff I will always hold in high regard!

"Airport jobs that have been pre-booked in will be covered so don't worry about that! Thanks again."

But Adam remained positive despite the setback.

He told Teesside Live: "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

"It would have worked as we had the custom.

"But for me it's just one step closer to becoming successful.

"Majority of people I study that are successful have sometimes 10-plus failed businesses so it's coming!

"Going to have a relaxing Christmas with the family and back to the drawing board in 2019."

One of AMG's drivers said he was "gutted" the company had been forced to close.

He posted: "I was proud to work on these, it's been hard work trying to keep it going.

"But with no support from other drivers and with a couple leaving Adam has had to close and I for one was gutted.

"Thanks to all the customers we had. I enjoyed your company."

Customers posted their disappointment on social media.

One said: "No way, gutted, your guys and gals were fab."

Another said: "Gave it your best, good luck to you all."

While another added: "Well done for trying to make it work...it’s a very hard game to set up in unfortunately...but at least you tried and that takes guts. Good luck going forward."

Yes, the drivers were so busy that they had to leave after a few days just to have a rest and to find time to spend all that money they'd made

Now's there's a shock.

If drivers want to gamble, they will go to a casino.
