Police issued CCTV images of the woman, believed to be from West Swindon, who attacked a 48-year-old driver after asking him to pull over near DFS because she said the fare was too high.
The taxi was being driven from Old Town towards Mannington Roundabout at around 12.30am on December 1.
The woman lashed out at the driver, punching him in the face and head as she got out the cab. The driver was not seriously hurt but suffered swelling and pain to his face.
Anyone with information to help identify the woman is being asked to call 101.
