A Delta driver has shared grim images of bite marks all over his face following a frenzied attack by a passenger who went on to steal his car - after a row over a spilled drink.

Malcolm Gladstone, 26, was bitten in the face after picking up three men for a fare in Everton on Saturday night.

He claims the men were arguing on the journey and that one of the passengers launched into a feral biting attack after being told to stop spilling his drink.

Speaking to the ECHO about his ordeal, Malcolm said: "I picked three guys up in Everton and they were arguing the whole journey with each other. Most of the journey was them arguing.

"One of the lads got out and there were two of them left bickering. As we got to Queens Drive it was getting more heated.

"They threw a drink at me then jumped out of the car. They got out then one of them got back in and started attacking me."

Malcolm, who has only been driving for Delta since February, says the entire attack was prompted by him asking one of the passengers to stop spilling a drink over his car.

The dad-of-one said: "He was spilling this drink over the car and I told him to drink up so he wouldn't spill it over my car and then he threw it all over me."

Malcolm says he stopped his car in the middle of Queens Drive and the two remaining passengers got out, before one of them dived back in and began biting his face and forehead.

He said: "I really didn't know what was going through my head - it was a mad one. I was just trying to get myself away as quickly as I could.

"I was scared for my life. I had this big guy on me getting a chunk out of my face."

The attacker is then understood to have stolen Malcolm's silver Ford Mondeo and driven it to Woolton village, where he is believed to have crashed into a number of cars before being apprehended by police.

Officers were called to reports of a car being driven "erratically" in the area - and the driver later crashed into a set of traffic lights at the junction of Kings Drive and Woolton Street.

Merseyside Police confirmed a 32-year-old man from Anfield was arrested following reports of a robbery and road traffic collision in Liverpool on Saturday night.

A brief statement from the force said: "At around 10pm, a taxi driver picked up a fare in the Everton area of the city. A short time later one of the passengers became agitated and began arguing with the taxi driver, before assaulting him and stealing his car, a silver Ford Mondeo.

"The driver suffered superficial bites to his face."

CCTV from both areas is being examined and witnesses are being spoken to.

I like the way the police seem to have downplayed the assault by calling them “superficial” bites, still looks quite nasty to me. I wonder if it was a police officer bitten they’d be saying the same thing ?
Is someone taking the mickey with the card next to the bed as well. #-o
