Bye-bye badge, I suspect.

Video on Mercury's website, obviously.

Dashcam footage captured a taxi driving along the pavement, passing a queue of traffic.

The video, taken just after 1pm on Saturday afternoon by a driver sitting in traffic, shows the taxi driving along London Road, Hinckley.

The footage shows the angle from the rear of a stationary vehicle in a queue of traffic.

The taxi is then seen approaching the queue before it pulls out onto the pavement.

A camera positioned at the front of the car shows the taxi passing several other vehicles along the path as they wait for the lights to change.

The driver, who recorded the incident and wished not to be named, said: "I was waiting at lights and then looked at dash cam too see this taxi coming up the path.

"It shocked me to see this and my thoughts were that this was an impatient driver trying to get to the lights quicker.

"I was glad that no one came out their houses as there could have been an accident or something worse.

"I was shocked to see that it was a taxi and thought they should surely be promoting safe driving, being a professional driver."

Section 72 of the Highways Act 1835 says: "You MUST NOT drive on or over a pavement, footpath or bridleway except to gain lawful access to property, or in the case of an emergency.”

The taxi in the video appears to be labelled with an A1 Taxis Hinckley sticker on the side of it.

The firm has been contacted several times by Leicestershire Live but did not provide a comment in time for publication.

Not quite as bad as this other one reported today, though, although not a taxi incident:
