Private hire driver quizzed over collision

https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/179 ... collision/

A PRIVATE hire driver who collided with the rear of a parked car in the West End has had his licence renewed.

Steven Hendry was fined £280 and issued five penalty points on his licence following the incident on Byres Road in November, last year. Hendry failed to stop and leave details.

Two witnesses then left their details on the parked vehicles wind-screen to say they had seen what happened.

Mr Hendry was brought before the licensing committee to explain himself.

He said: “I was driving along Byres Road and decided to stop for a coffee when I collided with the car.

“At the time I didn’t realise I had clipped the back end of it and got a phone call from the police three days later telling me what I had done.”

You would have thought that if the witnesses realised that there had been a bump, however minor, then the driver would have been aware as well.

But stranger things have happened, so who knows?

Stranger things have happened, but I'm in no doubt whatsoever the fella knew what he had done.

I had one earlier this year when someone reversed into me then denied "sensing" the bump claiming that she didn't sense it so it didn't happen fortunately in the end the insurance accepted the witness statement from another of my drivers who saw it happen

Apparently it is all over some sites on the internet that advise you that making such claims can get you out of being held liable for the accident
