Now what I would do is to send off several letters to the local rag, one a week for a month or so. In those letters, from different people, I would complain that as a WAV customer I can't have my demand met from the existing taxi permit holders, and I want action now.

It's quite funny cos no one but no one gives a [edited by admin] , no one is rocking anyones boat, no one dare, GNER pay good business rates, The Council collect this, and are impressed by GNER, they GNER are seen to be able to get a grip on the taxi drivers, hey just look at the dress code, the Council love it. The local press are impressed with GNER, they like the taxi driver dress code, but don't like the Council, so who is going to give a [edited by admin] about some buckshee taxi driver, then you got the factions lower down in the scale in the Station rank fighting it out, independants taxi drivers v Station Shareholders, the fight goes on

I am going to rant on while its all fresh in my mind, keeping it in this section

Saturday night, late on I picks up this young couple, they get in and tell me a place, where's that then I said, never heard of it, which is the main drag is it off.

I asked 3 times, and told them that I wasn't going to work blind, so this kid in the back says, turn right at the lights, left at the next set down so and so, passing so and so, I stop the cab, could feel the blood rising, thinking these are really asking for the chop and to be thrown out, so once more I said try again for the last time, this time I got given the main drag where the cul de sac was on a new estate

I gritted my teeth and thanked them for that and asked why didn't you give me that in the first place, the girl gave me this answer, oh dad is a taxi driver, oh yes what his name I said, would I know him, she gave me the name and I thought what a plonker, a man who came in this job got in with GNER plus Station taxi's five years ago, I told the girl, met the man once, don't get on with him, he's a [edited by admin] anyway got 3 quid tip at the end

It was 0400 hrs Saturday night, no Sunday morning really, picking up a job which after 8 hours would take me in the direction of home and was looking for the 200 quid listing on the meter but gave up exhausted 9 quid short

At that time 0400 hrs Sunday morning as I passed the GNER rank there must have been around 600 people waiting for a cab, it may come as a shock but I think I could count the cabs out on the street at that time on me fingers

The council in their wisdom [is that a good word [wisdom] or not to be applied to council transport committee] are thinking of putting 14 more cabs on to cover the early hours, to do the clean up whilst most sensible cabbies and councillors are tucked up or going to their beds. Will these cabs been time zoned or will it turn out that the new time zoned cabs trott off to the magistrates to become just general run of the mill taxis going home at a reasonable time, just like the last lot of cabs that disputed being area zoned
Phew

OI have just heard that there has been a meeting with the Council, the council stated that more plates will have to go on to cover the Station [GNER] rank due to the survey showing a demand for taxis

One driver stood up at the meeting and stated it doesn't matter how many taxi plates you put on, non can access the Station ]GNER] rank as the numbers limit has been reached that can apply for hire at the Station, controlled by GNER, the Council did not understand that the Station was restricted, so the plates will be released on to the general ranks further robbing us of work whilst we watch the queues at the Stn get longer and longer.

The GNER rank was not serviced tonight,as xmas day, boxing day and today bank holiday, because of the last few days no trains have been running, no Station taxis out, but the public swarm to the Station for a cab

There must be something in law which would allow a taxi a non permit holder to pick up, as these are people are off the street, some waited 3 hours for a cab tonight

This is [edited by admin] something is wrong

The legal problem, as you know, is a civil one, so your LO shouldn't have a problem as you are licensed to ply in the whole of your manor. But the station folks don't want you to pick up there.

It might be worth getting the police's view on this matter, as I'm sure they want rid of those people as much as you want to help out getting rid of them.

But if you did pick up there when it was mobbed with customers then I would be very surprised if the station folk made a song and dance about it. But I could be wrong.
