If it was me that writes the cheques then I would be more than willing to have a go, alas I'm one of the mugs that pay in. :(

But if you convince one of the lads on here to have a go, perhaps we can have a peep at theirs.

To save on costs etc etc, is there anyway your system can be used along side the Auriga one?

In that I mean, get rid of the brick in my car and use your stuff, but not have to up date the rest, apart from the software.

Not asking for much there, ah SM.

Well I wish someone would, cos I'm quite interested how they will work on big and small companies.

I think this and similar products are much more pro-driver than the crap we are given at the mo.

I mean, try downloading porn on an auriga brick. :D :D :D :D

Hello Andy
other than GPRS airtime, (remember the £6/veh/month figure) nothing! OK, so maybe that's not nothing - but pretty close. There is also a time limit of a month maybe a little longer dependant upon trial size.

So, I send you a cheque for £6 and you will come and install all your gear for just one month, and then come down and take it all out again next month for just six quid?

Can I buy a single user version of your booking and despatch software for "evaluation" on my PC?

I reckon a months trial is not really long enough. It would take me a month to sus the system's basics and just load the customer database.

What I reckon would be a real good selling point, is to have a system live on the net, that we could practice on for evaluation of the product. Then, what would of course happen, is (assuming the system is any good), people would buy it, simply because it was the only system they knew how to work, and wouldnt then want to go through the learning curve of another system.

Andy7, I can see you are becoming hooked, which I am very pleased about - however, there are several aspects you keep ignoring. The £6/veh/month only covers the comms costs. I did mention in a previous post that there would need to be a (fully refundable) deposit paid.

With regard to single user trials: I really wish I could just pop a handset in the post and know that it would be returned in the same state it left us - but bitter experience with some of the less "professional" members of the trade quickly ended that.

Even if we did this, you would miss the point - the product is designed for many many users - so there you'd be, entering a days worth of bookings and only seeing 1 handsets worth of covers....interesting to look at but not really showing the systems true worth.

From experience - remember, we do have real live customers making good money using the system- all of them (even the luddite docket chasers) that trialled, were convinced in less than a week. Sure there is a learning curve - there was one for the system you use now - but this is nothing that appropriate training cannot overcome - and we include that in the price! We can't afford for people to get a bad impression of our product just because they weren't given enough training or we didn't do things that made using the system easier.

The web-based "live demo" version is something we keep reviewing but there are various issues that make it unworkable at the moment:
1. - we would still need to ship you a handset and GPS receiver (nah)
2. - we would still have to setup your plots / zones / ranks etc (possible but v. fiddly over the web)
3. - there is a minimum display size & PC spec needed to view the booking screen - (how would we know joe public has this ?)
4. - cool things like CLI auto-fill and proximity ring-back just wouldn't work

So, if you want to play you gotta put some skin in the game. If you don't like it after a month we'll give you your deposit back but keep £6 per car. Sound fair?

R.

Can't we use our own IpaQs and just your software?

We evaluate each trial request on a case by case basis. The actual cost depends on the number of handsets and features being tried out but is typically the cost of the supplied system.
