Well this is fascinating 8-[

A lot here left unsaid, including why meetings cancelled, which was presumably due to, you know...

And had to look up Environment PDSP, which is Environment Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel [-(

(Not to be confused with the P&R PDSP, which is the Partnership and Resources Policy Development and Scrutiny Panel [-( [-( )

There's another odd reference, as explained below.

West Lothian taxi fares review set for delay

A review of taxi fares is likely to be delayed until West Lothian Council’s Executive can agree on proposals which went before a committee earlier this month

Fares have to be reviewed by law every 18 months. The council’s current fare table came into force on April 5, 2019 and requires to be reviewed so the council can publish a new fare table from October 5, 2020 for a period of 18 months. In practice metered private hire cars also use the same fare table.

At a recent meeting of the council’s Environment PDSP, proposals for a modest increase were agreed by members, these also included some increases in charges for luggage.

In a report to the PDSP, chief licensing solicitor Audrey Watson said: “In compliance with the legislation referred to above all three organisations were consulted and asked to put forward any changes that they wished to see made to the fare table.

“Representatives from the West Lothian Taxi Owners Association (TOA) and West Lothian Taxi and Private Hire Car Owners and Drivers Association (WLT&PHCO&D) have agreed a common proposal with regard to changes to the fare table.

“However, they were not able to agree a common position with The Fellowship. Therefore the council is required to consider both proposals for changes to the fare table and decide what changes, if any, should be proposed and published for public consultation.”

Proposals were set to go before the council executive this week before meetings were cancelled.

The proposed changes are scheduled to be published early next month as part of a public consultation exercise before coming back to council committee for review in June and a final decision being taken in August.

The Fellowship is another trade organisation, and looks like its full title is 'The WLAOTO Fellowship'.

Which I'm assuming stands for the West Lothian Association Of Taxi Owners Fellowship :-o

Anyway, if the article had simply said that the West Lothian Environment PDSP had delayed its fare review because the WLAOTO Fellowship disagreed with the WLTOA and WLT&PHCO&D then that would have sufficed :-s

Is this the Lord of the Rings?
