Teenage taxi robber behind bars

A TEENAGER who robbed a taxi driver has been put behind bars after he failed to obey court orders.

The 16-year-old from Bolton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had robbed the taxi driver of a data system, cash and cards on January 2 and then tried to use the stolen debit card in a shop.

He was sentenced to a youth rehabilitation order but has twice appeared before Wigan Youth Court after failing to obey a curfew and attend appointments with Bolton youth offending team.

He has now appeared back before magistrates and been re-sentenced to a detention and training order for four months.

“From his attitude it is clear that he will not comply with any non-custodial sentence,” stated the court.
