Taxi driver dies after horror crash on Glasgow street

Image

A taxi driver has died after a horror crash in Glasgow.

We told how emergency services had raced to the scene around 11.35am on Sunday, after a single car smash was reported on Auchentoshan Terrace in the Springburn area of the city.

Medics took the man, who was the only person in the silver Hackney car, to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

It has now emerged the 59-year-old has died.

Police say his next of kin have been made aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

He said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the man involved in this crash.

“We are currently conducting enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I would urge anyone who has any information that could assist with our investigation that they get in contact with police.

“If any road users have any dash-cam footage of the area around the time of the incident, please get in touch with officers.”

Very very sad.

Looking at the picture though it doesn't look like a horror crash, despite the most awful outcome.

Saw another couple of articles at the weekend.

They said he'd suffered a heart attack/cardiac arrest or similar, which had caused the crash.

The driver wasn't deceased at the time of the reports though.

But I doubt we'll here anything more about it, at least in the press :-|
