Sussex posted a link to this in another thread, but it's quite an interesting article, so just putting it here for the record.
Video on the website, although doesn't add much to the photo below, and there's no audio, which would make it more interesting, but of course that would identify the pair
Taxi driver videos passengers doing 'drug deal' in the back of his carhttps://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/li ... g-21226622The taxi driver said he could hear the passengers talking about 'charlie'
Image: UGC/Liverpool EchoA taxi driver has shared footage of a 'drug deal' taking place in the back of his car and says this is "a regular occurrence" while picking up fares across Merseyside.
The taxi driver, who has asked not to be named, said he captured the footage three weeks ago while out driving in his private hire vehicle in Kensington.
He told the ECHO: "I picked the guy up in Botanic Road and they said to take him to the Kensington area.
"A girl jumped in and he told me to drive around five minutes and then drop the girl off and later him at the same place.
"I didn't know what was going on then I heard the conversation and they used the slang 'charlie'
The taxi driver, who also contacted the ECHO recently after being racially abused while refusing to pick up an illegal fare in New Brighton in Wirral says his reaction was "surprise".
However, he also says that he has noticed, since starting driving private hire taxis six months ago, that several fares he has picked up appear to be dealing drugs in the back of his vehicle.
He said: "My reaction was surprise at how openly they'd do that but it does happen regularly.
"Once or twice a day I could smell the weed or I hear some code conversations.
"It's happening every day 24 hours a day, anytime.
"I could write a book about what I've seen.
He added: "Something needs to be done about it."
The footage has been sent to Merseyside Police.
