Being a new PHD, I would like some advice on the best hours and days to work in order to earn a good wage. Bearing in mind I will be working in a town with population of around 100,000. Obviously the fri, sat nights will be reasonably busy, but what about the rest of the week ?

I think Sunday is a good day (or night) to work.

As for the rest of the week, try to work as many hours you can outside of 9.00am till 5.00pm.

Iagree with sussex, sunday, not a lot of traffic not many cars out (most worked sat night) you can do 150 in 5-6 hrs on a sunday 1pm to 6pm easy.
I'm not one for sitting around doing nowt. So i'm out at 6am ish do the rush hours till about 11ish then off home, if i haven't done what i need i'll go back out about 4 untill 6 to top up my money.
But weekend nights are the one to do, you make the biggest part of your weeks cash on fri & sat nights.
A few more tips for night work. Tilt your mirror so you can see whats happening on the back seat. If you think you might have runners on board stop along side a parked car until you get paid then pull off so they can open the doors. Dont be fooled into turning into a back street/Ally way, stay on well lit roads when dropping off.
Slip it into reverse when you stop, if they try to get out before they pay, let your clutch out a bit, It's impossible to get out of a car thats going backwards because the door's in the way.
Get a false camera (real ones better but a dummy will discourage any problems (and make sure you have a sign they will notice) it'a amazing how it calms people down if they're getting a bit excited.

A lot of our hirings are all day, and very lucrative too. :D

So fine a nice firm, and you never know you might not have to work all the hours god sends.

Nights generally and weekends.

But of course no tow places are the same, so it's often best to vary your hours a bit until you get a feel for the best times.

Week nights can be as good as Friday, for example - in my manor there are often so many cars out on Friday that it can be pretty mediocre.

Many moons ago even I used to work 12.00pm through to 5.00am Friday and Saturday.

Chances of that happening now, less than f*** all. :D
