Wonder why polis were searching his garage?

Thurso taxi driver had 'forgotten' about ecstasy stash

Taxi driver Mark Urquhart was surprised when police searched his garage and recovered £500 worth of ecstasy – as he had forgotten all about it.

The Class A drug had been in his lock-up at Provost Cormack Drive, Thurso, for some considerable time, Sheriff Andrew Berry was told at the Wick court on Wednesday.

Urquhart (50) admitted having been in possession of 16.5gm of the drug on August 10, last year, and was fined £375.

Solicitor Sylvia Maclennan said that Urquhart was "very much surprised" when the drugs were uncovered and confirmed to police officers that "he had forgotten all about them."

She stressed that there was nothing to suggest that he was guilty of anything other than possession of the ecstasy.

Miss Maclennan said that Urquhart was separated from his previous partner and was now in a new relationship. The accused had branched out on his own and was worried about the effect the conviction would have on his taxi business and his family.

[If article seems a bit short, it is in fact longer, but rest is about a totally unrelated offender and nothing to do with the trade.]
