This happened a few months ago. I’m only in occasional catch ups with members of the trade.
LCC have removed the 10 year age limit on taxi and private hire school contracts. Many older, but perfectly serviceable taxi’s were rejected for use on contracts even though they were passed as fit for purpose by Lincoln city council. The 10 year rule has never applied to buses though, oddly.
It’s the only way for them to cover contract work for those who want it.
I gave up on them personally about 20 years ago. Mainly because of this kind of nonsense.

A similar thing is happening down here.

WAVs will be licensed for up to 14 years until April 24.

Up to 10 years old, one test a year, 10-12 two tests a year, 12-14 three a year.

All down to school contracts and inability to service the work.
