New taxi fares for the Scottish Borders have been suspended and our fate is now in the hands of the traffic commissioner.
If the fare rise had of gone ahead today we would have gone from the lowest fare region in Scotland to the highest, jumping 230 places in the taxi fare league

not much of a shock being suspended then is it!!
you cant go to the top from the bottom without the [edited by admin] hitting the fan!
then again if all councills gave us an increase every year in line with inflation then there wouldnt be this problem!

....and timed the introduction of the new fares to coincide with the publishing of the national average wage figures, in late October or early November, each year......... :)

Concerned as to WTF it's got to do with the Traffic Commissioner. :-k

It's councillors that set fares, and in many cases LO's if there are no objections.

Its a quirk in the legislation that allows an appeal to the traffic commissioner on fare setting.

Otherwise the traffic commissioner has no involvement in taxis.

In other words, its taking it out of the hands of the clueless into the hands of the really clueless.
