Karen Ferguson, owner of A1bion Taxis, based in Fallin, said: “We haven’t had a proper tariff increase in quite a few years. It’s about time – everyone else is getting pay rises. The increase would encourage more drivers to want to work and get more folk driving taxis because recruiting drivers has been a real problem.
Usual contradiction there - where do the 'pay rises' end up once all these new driver come on board?
But slightly more interesting is that this business arose from the ashes of one called Saturn Taxis, which I think failed because of lockdown and a collapse in driver numbers etc.
Anyway, perhaps more interesting is the usual employment status stuff. For example, on this slightly over-the-top 3 minute video, which (ironically) refers to 'self-employed, uniformed' drivers'
https://youtu.be/OjKh_TsZcaY?t=127Then there's the recruitment stuff - does this sound like self-employment to you?:

Pretty sure this below is related to the employment status issue, and that the company that Saturn is 'happy to recommend' will have some link to Saturn
