Well as they are turning away work, then one would assume their competitors are very happy with that. So they wont be making an offer.

But why aren't the existing drivers buying it?

Well things must be bad, we have a PH company in the city gone into bancruptcy, thats the second company thats gone down here in the last 2 years.

Was it a big PH company or just a little one-man band?

I think a lot of businesses are having a hard time of late. Mostly due to poor money management.

Have you got the details of the comany, I'd like to look it up as to why it went to the wall.

Very few taxi companies change hands successfully. A successful taxi business IMO is a license to print money and anyone selling must be viewed with some suspicion. If their selling, then they have probably made a bad job of running the company and reached the point where it just doesn’t make economic sense to carry on so beware!

I've seen so many get their fingers burnt this way ending up with a telephone number with a bad name and drivers that will desert a new owner.

but you are right, never buy a business especially a taxi business thats advertised.

The owner could have just had enough, made their money and time to retire??
If the company has a good reputation with the community then unless something major goes wrong, they will keep the work which in turn will keep drivers as they will be earning.

May be worth looking at, but doesnt say how many cars are on the fleet apart from those which i presume come with the company.

I would be concerned with any taxi firm that was advertised for sale. If things were going well and there was a genuine reason for the owner to want out, then surely a driver or group of drivers would buy him out?

Isn't that why such a large number of PH firms have so many share holders?

Exactly.

No-one knows the firm better than the drivers, and if they aren't interested, then people should ask why.

Perhaps, but there are of course legitimate reasons to sell firms, and to an extent the best time to sell is when it's at the top of the market.

And there may be problems in getting enough drivers together or these drivers raising finance to buy the firm. Let's face it, we all know that many in the trade just prefer as quiet a life as possible.

taxifast are PH, i heard yesterday that one of the big hack plate owners was selling up. could just drivers gossip or could be a plate baron trying to off load his soon to be worthless plates...

If I was a multi-plate holder in an area that could soon be rid of quotas, then I think I would want to get rid.

But I would be careful who I sold out too. The thought of having to look over my shoulder for many years to come doesn't appeal one little bit.
