Londoners have been left shocked after an Uber driver revealed he can make up to £100,000 per year. Asked live on camera what he does for a living for a video on TikTok, the slightly startled man says ‘Uber driver’.
The interview, who regularly approaches random strangers in the street to ask about their jobs, asked him: “I’ve actually been hoping to interview an Uber driver. How long have you been an Uber driver?” To which the driver replies “four years.”
“What’s the best thing about your job,” he is then asked. He simply responds: “Driving around London, meeting new people.”
The next question is: “Roughly how much do you make on a monthly basis or annual basis?” “Annual basis, between 50 and 100 [thousand pounds].”
“And are you paid fairly for the work you do?” “Yes,” the driver said.
Finally, he’s asked: “What would be your one bit of advice to anyone who wants to be or is an Uber driver in London.”
The driver thoughtfully responded: “Don’t do it if you have any sort of anxiety around traffic or stress. If that affects you don’t do it, it’s not for you. But if you love people, do it.”
People were blown away by how much the man makes. One viewer said: “£100,000 a year driving for Uber…….he must be doing a 60 hour day 12 days a week.”
And a second reminded us that: “People are forgetting London is more expensive than other places so he probably definitely makes way over 50k a year.”
Shocked, a third wrote: “100k! So you're telling me my engineer husband has to work off shore for 3 months at a time to earn 130k, when all he needs to do is work for Uber?”
A fourth added: “He must be working loads to earn that? Good for him but a hard worker.”
