Taxi driver accepts apology after man arrested over assault

A MAN arrested on suspicion of assaulting a taxi driver will face no further action.

A police presence was reported on Hallfields Road in Orford on Christmas Day by residents.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that officers attended to arrest a man on suspicion of assault on a taxi driver.

However, the force added that the complaint was not pursued, with a letter of apology sufficient as an alternative to court.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 10.44pm on Monday, December 25, police were called to reports that a taxi driver had been assaulted by a customer on Hallfields Road, Warrington.

“Officers attended the scene, and a man was arrested on suspicion of section 39 assault.

“The victim subsequently decided that they did not wish to make a complaint and it was agreed that the suspect would send a letter of apology.”

Happens all the time.

But rarely happens for assaults on the police.
