If your ever lost Ollie, give me a call.

I''ll do discounts for TDO members, that'll save Sussex a bit of time when he's next up in London.

"The Knowledge" solves the "London Dilemma!"

Got an important meeting or interview and can't find the building?

Stuck in traffic and have to get somewhere in a hurry?

Caught in a one-way system?

Need to find a car park?

Lost in London and need directions?

These are all examples of "the London Dilemma" which everyone who lives, works or visits London experiences from time to time.

"The Knowledge" has the solution to the "London Dilemma". Using all the skill and experience of licensed London taxi drivers, "The Knowledge" provides directions and live navigation to anyone who is lost in London, looking for a car park or short cut or simply trying to find somewhere. Recent research published in The Sunday Times reveals that, at any one time, at least 1 in 4 motorists in London are either lost or looking for a parking space.

By dialing 090 62 65 65 65* callers will be connected to a "virtual call centre" which puts them through to a licensed London taxi driver (who won't be driving in his cab at the time) who can provide directions or information about where places are and how to get there. They stay on the line for as long as callers need ** and all calls are recorded so that you can listen back to the information should you forget any of it. The service is available 24 hours a day.

So now, if ever you are lost in London, you can tap into the "Knowledge"which London taxi drivers have in their heads, having trained and driven for years to obtain.

No-one in the world knows London as well as London taxi drivers. One of "The Knowledge" taxi drivers has taken part in a race from Putney Bridge to King's Cross between a car with satellite navigation and a London taxi driver. The taxi driver won!

Now you need never be stuck in London again. All you need is a mobile phone to avoid the embarrasment of being late, the disappointment of not being able to find somewhere, or the frustration of being stuck in traffic or unable to park.

"The Knowledge" gets you there!

* This is a premium rate telephone number costing £1 per minute from a BT landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks may vary.
** (up to a maximum of 30 minutes in any one call)

Not a bad idea.

But does the phone go dead when you're south bound over the Thames? :D

I hope you'll not be sending punters the long way round to boost the call charges. How many interpreters will you need for the licensed PH drivers?

Don't think that will be a problem as the call centre is in India.

I had 6 months of this. I did the 'training' and got another Phone line put in. Updated my mapping software. Then I started my rota which was every evening from 5pm till midnight, and weekends.
After about a week my phone rang on evening. "This is it" I thought "clear the decks for action".
"Welcome to the knowledge, how can I help you" (This is the starting speal)
" Hello I am from home improovments, We are doing a special offer in your area for fitted kitchens"..... [edited by admin] (the balloon of my eager anticipation being deflated).
This was all that I was getting on this new line. Bloody Telesales.
Not one call for the expertese of my many years of experience.
So after the six months I gave it up.

The guy running this show is a solicitor that got the idea that if people got lost in London they would be willing to spend a £ a minute for help...
I always asked why? when they could ask a cab driver next to them in traffic fo nothing, or go buy a Tomtom sat nav system..
