Need some info please on who to contact for a hack plate for the glasgow area. I know about all the recent talk of plates that could end up becoming worthless sometime in the future and inflated prices and all that, however id like to know the best folk to approach for a plate or transfer as i think its called. I was considering a possible purchae of a new tx2, from patons glw. Would these folk possibly put you onto some potential sellers,,any advice appreciated guys,,cheers.,

I would contact the big taxi firm, I think it's called GTOA, or something like that.

Then a call to the Samaritans might be an idea.

Also, is it a requirement to rent a radio from the hack operators or can you just work off the ranks and such. Personally, had enough of the private hire circuit and their mostly petty operators, would be a nice change to go out to work without having them barking down the voice channel lol.

Give Glasgow Taxis a phone at 141 429 2900
They will get you started.

Have you worked in taxis before ??? If not, after you get your licence you may want to hire a hack for a few months to see if it's the job for you.

It's not a requirment to have a radio, you can hire a hack without one.

deargreenblackhack, no mate ive not worked a hack yet but been in privates for 2 years plus , so apart from the obvious differences i think it would be better on the whole. I reckon it would be best to secure a plate first and then go for a cab, as opposed to the other way around. But apprciate the contact number, will give them a buzz,,,cheers

Given the amount of people ignoring the uncertainty  then I doubt if the values have changed much :?

But if things go pear-shaped in a year or two, I suspect you won't be mentioning then that you were aware of the 'uncertainty' when you bought the plate
