No photo here, but reason for that is stated at bottom of article. But apart from that it's a familiar tale...

I assumed it was in Bournemouth, but seems like it was actually in the small town of Coleville, a few miles away, which is just 7,000 people according to Wiki.

So not the scenario you'd normally assume for this kind of thing - in fact, pretty sure many locations of similar size wouldn't even have ranks as such...

And very nearly three years ago :?

Taxi driver targeted lone female passenger in sex assault

A WOMAN thought she was going to die after her taxi driver pulled into a dark street and launched a terrifying sexual assault.

Motin Miah, 52 and of Petwyn Close in Ferndown, climbed on top of the lone female passenger, grabbed her neck and began touching her inappropriately.

At a sentencing at Bournemouth Crown Court, the victim said: “I thought he was going to rape me, kill me and dump body.

“I honestly thought I was going to die that night.”

At around midnight on March 6, 2022, the victim entered a taxi in Colehill after having drinks with friends.

The then 25-year-old was said to be emotional due to a previous interaction in a pub and was crying in the taxi.

The defendant started “to try to win her favour”, telling her she was too pretty to cry and too pretty not to have a boyfriend.

He pulled into a dark lane and entered the rear of the taxi, where the victim still had her seatbelt on.

While the woman was trapped, Miah got on top of her, started kissing her cheek and neck before groping her.

She said: “Please stop I just want to go home.”

The victim bravely told the court: “At the time I thought I was doing the right thing by getting into a trusted taxi from the taxi rank however, for the first time I was worried for my life.”

She added: “I wondered if rape was the quickest and easiest way out of this situation.”

Following the attack, the woman has suffered from PTSD and slept in her mother’s bed for five months, due to being afraid of closing her eyes alone.

“I felt so dirty after the attack.”

She added: “I don’t know if I will ever be able to get in a taxi by myself ever again.”

The woman said she struggled with suicidal ideations, guilt and shame after the incident.

Mitigating, Mark Florida-James, said the defendant is a “family man” and married for 25 years.

Judge Robert Pawson said he did not accept that Miah showed genuine remorse, and that he posed a high risk of harm to female members of the public.

He said the defendant targeted a vulnerable female and abused a position of trust.

After being found guilty by jury of sexual assault, Miah was jailed for three years and three months, and made subject to the sex offenders register for life.

He was handed a restraining order against the victim and a sexual harm prevention order, both until further order.

Dorset Police have confirmed it does not hold a custody image for Miah.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said when defendants/ suspects attend voluntary police interviews, they do not enter custody and therefore pictures are not taken.

The trade is unlikely to be trusted by this lady again courtesy of this monster nor probably by many of her friends.
